Four Puttenham Golf Club members took part in the Macmillan Cancer Support Longest Day Golf Challenge to play 72 holes in one day and raise monies for the charity.

The Puttenham team featured Sarah Smith, Karen Shanks, Jayne Shanks and Debs Sparham.

The prize for the top four highest fundraisers across the country winning a trip to Portugal with Boavista Resorts.

The all-women Puttenham team not only managed to complete the 72 holes, starting at 5.40am with the last putt dropping at 6.15pm but raised an impressive £15,109.

This put them into that top four in the country and they are now off to the Boavista resort in Portugal at the end of this month.

Collectively, the team said: “We all love playing golf, although 72 holes in one day was a little daunting but we had tremendous support from Puttenham club members with people pushing our trolleys but also keeping us fed and watered to keep us going.

“Members were also very generous in sponsoring us as were local businesses and we would never have raised over £15,000 without everyone’s support.”
