After starting 2014 with a highly successful production of Aladdin, Merrow Dramatic Society (MDS) is back at the Electric Theatre with a rib tickling comedy featuring murder and mayhem. Running from May 15 to 17 its production of The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard features a cast of familiar MDS faces who are raring to get on to the stage.
The play follows two theatre critics – Moon and Birdboot – who are watching a ludicrous setup of a country house murder mystery, in the style of a whodunit. By chance, they become involved in the action causing a series of events that parallel the play they are watching. Full of suspense, murder and poignant critical acclamations this is Stoppard at his witty best.
Director Kevin Wright said: “We can’t wait to get this in-front of an audience; we’ve had a lot of fun during rehearsals and we want to share our hard work. The cast and crew are ready to go so all we need now is a loud and appreciative audience! There are lots of laughs in this show so don’t hold back.”
MDS regularly performs at the Electric Theatre with productions ranging from Terry Pratchett to Alan Ayckbourn. It is a friendly group who always welcome new members. Its autumn production Stepping Out by Richard Harris has already been cast but auditions for the next pantomime are not that far away, so why not get in touch?
