Recognise Your Healthcare Heroes

Some of the doctors and nurses at the RSCH – do you have a particular hero? It could be any healthcare worker.

Patients across Surrey are being asked to shine a spotlight on healthcare heroes who have gone the extra mile.

Each year, Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust calls on patients, their carers and loved ones to recognise and say thank you to a staff member or team who have gone above and beyond.

All Trust staff in hospitals and in the community are eligible for the Patients’ Choice awards, which has become the most sought-after prize at our annual staff awards ceremony.

Past winners have been described as a “beacon of hope”, recognised for their outstanding “kindness, compassion and understanding”.

Trust chair Sue Sjuve said: “The Patients’ Choice award gives our most important critics, the people and the community we serve, the chance to acknowledge a staff member or team who made a real difference to their lives.”

Jacqui Tingle, named Employee of the Year in 2018, said: “Just being nominated gives you a tremendous amount of pride. It can really boost a person’s confidence and self-esteem to know that the difference they are making is so valued.”

The finalists will be invited to attend to the Royal Surrey Stars ceremony, compered by Eagle Radio’s Adam Morris and Matt Daines, on November 27 at the Harbour Hotel in Guildford.

People are able to nominate on our website www.royalsurrey.nhs.uk

Nominations are welcome from anyone served by Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, which comprises Royal Surrey County Hospital, Milford Hospital, Haslemere Hospital, Cranleigh Village Community Hospital and community hospitals/centres serving Guildford and Waverley and the radiotherapy unit based in Redhill.

Nominations close at 5pm on September 13.
