Retiring Volunteers At Surrey Drug And Alcohol Care Thanked For Their Dedicated Work

Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care (SDAC) volunteers have bid farewell to its retiring chairman and volunteer of 12 years, Peter Basley, and also his wife Irene who had been its volunteer co-ordinator and company secretary.

The rector of St Nicolas Church, Guildford, the Revd Canon Andrew Norman, presents a cheque to retiring chairman of Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care, Peter Basley.

The event, held at met at St Nicolas Church in Guildford,was an opportunity to look back over 33 years’ achievement of advising on drug and alcohol related issues and look ahead to the new, added responsibility for directing callers to mental health and wellbeing services.

The rector of St Nicolas Church, the Revd Canon Andrew Norman, presented Peter with a cheque from the church’s congregation. This is the second year of its support, for which the charity says it is very grateful.

Alan Earwaker takes over as acting chairman and Emma Bassett is the new volunteer co-ordinator and company secretary.
