This film fits nicely into the uniquely British domestic light weigh rom-com that we make so well but never achieve greatness. The sort of film that will become a staple of wet Sunday afternoons. A familiar friend that does not offend, threaten or disappoint.
It is set in the early years of World War Two and centred on the Government Film Unit, haphazard group of characters sharing their ups and downs, tragedy and success.
The familiar cast of British talent is lead by Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin who give convincing performances, but not their finest, while Bill Nighy does his excellent Bill Nighy.
Rather disappointed. Three out of five stars.
Showing at the Odeon Cinema, Guildford for the rest of the week and possibly next.
