Robbery at Knifepoint – More Details Emerge

More details emerged today of a dramatic car chase the led to the arrest of two suspects in connection with the armed robbery at Eagle Road, Guildford (see initial report below).

A police spokesperson added today: “The car was stolen during the robbery in Eagle Road. The car was first spotted in Bookham and was used at excess speed along a route which included the A246, M25 and A217 and eventually entered a private caravan park in the Banstead area, where the two suspects decamped.”

It is known from the initial report that a taser was used during the apprehension of the suspects.

The spokesperson concluded: “Both men charged have been recalled to prison for other offences.”

Robbery at Knifepoint – Two men Charged (2nd Sep)

Two men in their 20s have been charged following a robbery at a property on Eagle Road, Guildford on Friday night (31 Aug).

The incident took place around 10pm when a woman who was alone at the property and said later that the incident had been “terrifying”, was confronted by a man unknown to her with a knife. He left the property with her handbag and is believed to have had an accomplice.

Around 11pm the same night officers stopped a vehicle close to junction 8 (Reigate) on the M25 and two men were arrested. One of the men was taken to East Surrey Hospital as a precaution after being tasered by officers but was released later the same evening.

Paul Dale Huntley, 29 and James Stewart Scott, 23, both of Ferry Lane, St Catherine’s, Guildford have been charged with robbery, burglary, dangerous driving and possession of a bladed item.

Both men have been remanded in police custody to appear at South West Magistrates Court on Monday, 3 September.
