A statement on the Royal Surrey County Hospital website confirms that the hospital trust has been unaffected by the worldwide “ransomware” cyber-attack that is still troubling seven UK hospitals. In total 61 NHS organisations were affected.
In line with advice issued by the government, security patches had been applied to the RSCH’s IT operating system.
Patients are asked to continue to attend appointments as normal.
The statement reads: “Update on worldwide cyber-attack: we would like to reassure our patients that the relevant security patches have been applied to all hospital PCs, servers and computer based systems.
“We have not been affected by the mass cyber-attack and our IT teams continue to monitor all systems closely. We, like the majority of the NHS, are operating a normal service, seeing and treating patients as usual.
We ask that anyone who has an outpatient appointment or procedure scheduled attends the hospital as normal. Please be advised that we are still likely to be very busy and we would ask you to use our Accident and Emergency services only when there is a genuine emergency. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.”
