As well as welcoming a new Chief Scout (Dwayne Fields), autumn has seen Scouting in Guildford busy with activities to give all the Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and 18 to 24 section #skillsforlife.

Cubs from 1st Shalford and 1st Ripley joined other cubs from Surrey and beyond at Bentley Copse near Shere for the first Cubs Cause Chaos.

A weekend of activities included circus skills, bouncy fun run, climbing, abseiling, thomahawks, air-rifle, archery, pedal go karts, aero ball, adventure course, zip wire, cave maze, crate stacking, radio-controlled cars, gladiator challenge, nerf wars and Jacob’s Ladder, but to name a few.

1st Normandy Cubs won the craft challenge.

The peace light ceremony.

At the peace light ceremony, Scouters from Surrey lit their lamps from a flame that had been brought from Bethlehem (back in 2023) and had been lit all year at Gilwell Park. One of the lamps was taken to Guildford Cathedral for others to light.

Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Michael More-Molyneux’s cadets.

Well done to James Richardson (Explorer Scout, 1st Normandy) who has just completed a year as one of the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Michael More-Molyneux’s cadets.

During his year James accompanied him on many visits across the county and had visited Scoutabout and a disability arts organisation where the Duke of Edinburgh was in attendance.
