Scrapbook History No.4

More newspaper and magazine cuttings people long ago pasted into scrapbooks. This time featuring groups of people.

Most of these are likely to have been published in the Guildford City Outlook magazine and date from around the 1930s.

This once popular magazine encouraged readers to send in ‘old photos’ for publication and relished printing the names of those featured.

Back then, photos were mostly absent from the columns of other Guildford area local newspapers, such as the Surrey Advertiser & County Times and the Surrey Times. However, the borough’s third local newspaper, the Surrey Weekly Press was known for a more pictorial approach to reporting the news.
