The Head of Finance for Surrey Police has today been re-instated following a successful appeal against his dismissal from the force.

In November, a misconduct board was held in respect of allegations of failure to disclose a change in personal circumstances and mishandling of internal information.

At the request of Surrey Police, this panel was external and independent from the force.

The allegations were found to be proven against Paul Bundy and he was sanctioned to dismissal for gross misconduct, subject to an appeal.

On Thursday 19 December, an external and independent appeal hearing was held to review this decision.

A police statement said: “The appeal panel agreed the allegations had been proven but found a final written warning was a more proportionate sanction in this case. Mr Bundy has therefore been re-instated to his role as Head of Finance.

“The misconduct did not relate directly to the financial responsibilities of the Head of Finance role.”
