Aaron McKibbin (Epsom) did amazingly well to sweep the board at the Para National Championships in Sheffield, winning the Open Standing Singles, Class 8 and Open Standing Doubles titles.

Aaron beat fellow Surrey player Max Flint (Merrow) in the final of the Open Standing event. Billy Shilton was Aaron’s doubles partner in the Open Standing Doubles event.

Max Flint won bronze in the Men’s Class 10 Singles at the 2024 SQY French Para Open in Voisins les Bretonneux. In the Class 18 Doubles event Max Flint reached the quarter-finals with Theo Bishop.

Krish Chotai (New Malden) played in the World Schools Event in Bahrain. England Boys Team 1 came fourth and England Boys Team 2 came eighth.

In the Individual event, Krish won all three of the matches he played in his first group 3-0 against players from Uganda, Bulgaria and India.

Krish beat a player from Bahrain in the last 32 but lost to Hsu Hsien-Chia of Chinese Taipei in the last 16.

In the Senior British Club League, Shaquille Webb-Dixon (Wandsworth) beat Chris Doran and won a doubles match but it was not enough for his team Fusion as they lost 4-3 to Batts.

The National Series 2 under 15s Boys Division 4 was won by Charlton Ngitngit. Caron Charles came fifth in the National Series 2 Under 19s Girls Division 4. Francesco Bonato came fourth in Division 2 of the Boys under 19 event.

At the inaugural Graham Spicers Over 40s 1-star tournament on Sunday, October 20, there were 28 men and 2 women playing for ranking points and Bribar cheques, with 14 players from Surrey and the rest from Middlesex, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Bedfordshire, Somerset, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Hampshire and Ukraine.

Band 1:
Oleh Biletskyi beat all before him even though he was the third seed. There were many amazing matches with orthodox players, blockers, lobbers and hard bat.

For second place there was a three-way tie between Adam Laws (Godalming), Jarek Chrzanowski (Cambridgeshire) and Daniel Heo (Burymead). Adam won the countback to come second and Jarek was third.

Band 2:
Evgeni Genchev (Essex) and Sandor Toczkanyuk (Essex) both won four and lost one match but Evgeni won the head-to-head so won the group. Artur Lopata (Middlesex) came third.

Band 3:
It was unranked Tsz-Kit Chan (New Malden) who remained undefeated. Kinga Oryl (Godalming) came second and Jeremy Wu (Eldon) third.

Band 4:
Tony Needham (New Malden) rolled back the years winning four of five matches. Hiu Fai Lau (Warwickshire) also won four of five matches but Tony won their head-to-head and therefore won Band 4. Paul Elliott (New Malden) was third.

Band 5:
Joe Leone (Wandsworth) and Graham Ponter (Hampshire) both had four wins but Joe won their head to head so won Band 5. Marek Mastelaczyk (Herefordshire) came third.

Kumiko Williams (New Malden) was the tournament referee.

Surrey Senior Closed Day 1:

Carmen Vajdi (New Malden) seems to win the women’s over 60s title every year, but this year Annie Higham exceeded herself and beat Carmen in the round-robin event.

In the men’s over 60s semi-finals Phil Snelson (Burymead) beat Paul Baker (Burymead) and Percy Collino (Ashford) beat Joe Leone.

The final was a real humdinger of defence and attack with Phil on the attack and Percy defending. Percy won 3-2 (16-14, 5-11, 3-11, 12-10, 11-9).

The men’s over 60s consolation final saw Ashley Hird (Wandsworth) beat Tio Collu.

There were six competitors in the over 40s women’s round-robin event. Sarah Horsnell (Ashford) the top seed and former Middlesex player powered through the lot winning each match 3-0. Carmen Vajdi was the runner-up.

In the men’s over 40s event the quarter-finals saw Daniel Heo beat Goran Maric (South Croydon), Ashley Hird (Wandsworth) beat Steve Davis (Merrow), Peter Stahlman beat Joe Leone and Percy Collino beat Phil Snelson.

Daniel Heo went on to beat Ashley Hird 3-1 and Peter Stahlman’s smooth topspin attack beat the defence of Percy Collino 3-0.

In the final Peter Stahlman won 3-2 (8-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9, 11-8).

Paul Baker won the over 40s consolation event beating Tio Collu (Eldon).

A fun time was had by all in the over 40s doubles event, where the top two seeds made the final but it was the second seeds of Phil Snelson and Sarah Horsnell who beat the top seeds Adam Laws and Goran Maric. 3-1 (11-6, 12-10, 7-11, 12-10).

Surrey Senior Closed Day 2:

In the under 21s Open event Jaydan Griffiths (Sutton) beat Ernie Kemp (New Malden) 3-1 in the semi-final and Hoj Yoon (New Malden) beat Arnav Sharma (Ewell) 3-2 (11-5, 8-11, 11-7, 12-14, 13-11).

Hoj Yoon beat Jaydan Griffiths 3-0 in the final.

Chui-Que Wong (New Malden) won the Mixed Gender under-21 consolation round-robin event and Sophie Lee was the Runner-up.

In the under 21s Women’s event Chui-Que Wong beat Sophie Lee to claim the title.

The Open Singles event, quarter-finals, saw Adam Laws beat Jaydan Griffiths, Piotr Odelski (Wandsworth) beat Hoj Yoon, Tomasz Watral (Wandsworth) beat Chui-Que Wong and Daniel Heo beat Ernie Kemp.

In the semi-finals Tomasz Watral beat Daniel Heo 3-0 and Adam Laws beat Piotr Odelski 3-1.

Adam Laws won the final against Tomasz Watral 3-0 (11-7, 11-6, 14-12).

In the Women’s Singles round-robin event saw Holly Holder beat Chui-Que Wong 3-2 (8-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-8).

Holly also won the Open Consolation event beating Ashley Hird in the final.

The Doubles semi-final saw Aryan Sarma (New Malden) and Hoj Yoon beat Steve Sharp (Rosehill) and Sagar Pattanayak (Rosehill), and Piotr Odelski and Tomasz Watral beat Adam Laws and Yevhenii Bohrieiev. Priotr Odelski and Tomasz Watral won the final 3-1 against Aryan Sarma and Hoj Yoon.

Adam Laws ran the event.

Winning captains of the 2024-2025 Surrey Inter League.

The Surrey Table Tennis Association hosted the 2024-2025 Surrey Inter League at Rosehill Table Tennis Club, Sutton on Saturday, November 2.

Sutton entered two teams and Guildford and Haslemere entered one team.

Final order:

Winners Guildford: Shaun Robertson (Merrow) and Ross Saxby (Burymead).

Runners up Sutton 1: Krishnamohan Nagarajan and Daniel Heo.

Third Sutton 2: Eunho Oh and Dean Rose.

Fourth Haslemere: Tim Hampton and Julien Blanc.

Kaden Gallagher (New Malden) won the under-13 Boys event at the Worthing 1 Star Junior tournament and Sean Lee (New Malden) won the under-13 Boys Consolation event. Holly Holder was one of the umpires at the event.
