Suspect Arrested Following Collision with Pedestrian in Guildford

Police officers were called to Walnut Tree Close in Guildford at around 6.30pm on Friday (January 17) following a collision between a pedestrian and the driver near the Riverside Business Centre. The driver failed to stop at the scene.

The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.

A man in his 60s was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving, causing serious injury by driving without due care, and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He has been released under investigation while our enquiries continue.

A police spokesperson said: “We are now looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have any information that could assist our investigation. We are particularly interested in tracing the movements and manner of driving of a black Mercedes SUV prior to the collision.

“Were you travelling in the area around Walnut Tree Close between 6.20pm and 6.40pm on Friday, 17 January? Do you have any CCTV, dash cam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident?
