OS Street View SU95SWThieves targeted a family home in Normandy, Guildford and stole jewellery while the householders were at a funeral.

The incident happened on Tuesday, May 14, when offenders forced their way into the house in the vicinity of Guildford Road, sometime between 10.50am and 6pm. The occupiers were at a local crematorium attending their mother’s funeral. The intruders made off with a number of rings and lockets belonging to her.

The jewellery is described as a sapphire pyramid ring, a gold locket, a yellow metal oval locket with floral engraving around its edge and an oval shaped yellow metal locket with an appliqué floral surround.

Detective Constable Andy Skoglund, investigating, said: “This was a further devastating blow for the family who returned from the mother’s funeral to find that their home had been ransacked and sentimental items had been cruelly removed from the deceased’s jewellery collection. The victim was understandably distraught upon discovering the theft at the end of what had already been a very traumatic day.

“I would urge anyone who may have any information about the break-in – whether they saw anyone acting suspiciously or may have seen these items for sale somewhere to contact me straight away. Your details may be the link to help officers find these despicable offenders and bring them to justice.”
