Two close friends and keen sportsmen, Andy Webb and Trev Porter, started a circuit training fitness class on June 16, 1983, at the former Guildford Sports Centre in Bedford Road, and they are delighted to boast that their class is still going strong today!
On Tuesday, June 18, they will be celebrating their 30th anniversary at Guildford Spectrum where it has run since the complex opened in 1993. To celebrate this fitness class milestone the pair of fitness fanatics are wanting as many past and present participants of their legendary circuit training class to go along and join in a free, fun and light-hearted session at 7pm and/or join them in the bar for a drink, chat and to reminisce at 8pm.
Speaking about their 30 years in Guildford, Andy and Trev said that many people have attended the classes over the years, including international sportsmen and women.
But they have also trained sports people who play in various local teams competing in a variety of different sports or those who just wish to maintain a level of fitness.
They’ve also managed to bring together at least two couples that met at their classes and subsequently married.
A few of the current regulars have been attending for nearly 20 years and one in excess of 25 years.
Andy and Trevor said: “We have had so much fun and made so many lasting friendships over the years that we really hope to get as many people as possible along to celebrate the anniversary with us.”
To book your place on the free class on Tuesday, June 18, call 01483 443322, or go to Guildford Spectrum’s website and click on online booking.
