A man and a teenager have been charged following a police pursuit on the A3 in the early hours of Saturday (September 1, 2018).

The pursuit took place after a grey Audi A4 drove away from officers in Farnham around 12.25am. The car failed to stop, heading off on the A31 before turning on to the A3, exiting just before the Hindhead tunnel. The car lost control on a left-hand bend and collided with a tree.

The two occupants were arrested and taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford with minor injuries.

Later, 20-year-old Amin Lais of East Ham, London, was charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, using a motor vehicle without insurance, driving other than in accordance with a license; possession of cannabis, two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.

A 16-year-old male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.

Lais pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared at Staines Magistrates’ Court yesterday (September 3). He will next appear at Guildford Crown Court on October 1. The 16-year-old male is due to appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court on September 26.
