Two separate incidents caused the part closure of the Aldershot Road this morning.

Details are still emerging but Surrey Police say officers were called to a collision between a van and a pedestrian at around 9.15am.

A 64-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by specialist police officers.

At 12.30 Aldershot Road was still closed at the junction with Northway. There was still access via Southway for vehicles travelling towards Fairlands.

A police spokesperson said: “Please avoid the area and we will provide an update as soon as we can.”

This car is thought to have been involved in an incident described as a “three-car-shunt”. It is believed some occupants of the vehicles may have sustained minor injuries. Further details are awaited.

Another unrelated incident is understood to have occurred at a nearby but unspecified location also on Aldershot Road. Surrey Police said that officers had not been called to attend but damaged vehicles had been found at the scene.

The police spokesperson appealed for witnesses: “If you witnessed the collision and have any information which may help our investigation, or any dashcam footage, please contact us quoting PR/P22207630:

“If you do not wish to leave your name, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
