Some of the current volunteering opportunities being promoted by Voluntary Action South West Surrey
Dose of Nature comes to Guildford
Dose of Nature is a registered charity that gives people who are suffering with their metal health the chance to meet up with a volunteer buddy and benefit from walks in an open space, ie a park or in the countryside.
It’s a project that has been helping people in the Richmond upon Thames area and now has funding to operate in the Guildford area, and is therefore looking to recruit volunteers.
Alongside its individual nature prescriptions, it delivers well-being workshops, teaching the general population about the benefits of spending more time outside in natural spaces.
Previous groups have included students, young parents, older adults, teachers, psychologists, refugees, survivors of domestic abuse, carers, charity leaders, NHS workers and firefighters.

Become a mentor with Surrey Care Trust
If you enjoy working with young people between the age of 11 to 18, then this will be the perfect volunteer role for you.

Friendly, reliable people are needed who can be patient with clients who may have a vision impairment, be hard of hearing, deaf or deafblind.
The role is to be there to provide a befriending service and allow clients to continue hobbies in their own home. The role will not involve providing personal or health care.
It requires a weekly commitment (between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday) at a time to be agreed by both you and the client. Sight for Surrey will regularly make contact with you and the client to see how the relationship is building and would ask you to commit to a weekly call for the minimum of 12 weeks.
