Action for Carers Surrey has been presented with a cheque from Waitrose Guildford, as part of the supermarket’s “Give a Little Love” drive.
The charity, which supports unpaid carers of all ages across the county, was among several local community causes helped by the store’s Christmas campaign.
Victoria Speirs, the charity’s marketing assistant, was delighted with the cheque for £333 from Emily Cartwright, Waitrose Guildford’s community activities co-ordinator.
“We’re so grateful,“ Victoria said. “Our charity works with carers all over Surrey, but our office is in Guildford and Waitrose Guildford has been particularly supportive.”
Throughout the pandemic, Action for Carers has extended its telephone support for anyone unpaid and looking after a relative or friend who could not manage without them.
The charity has also introduced a range of Zoom sessions for information and relaxation. There are now also more online support groups for all carers, including those looking after someone with a particular condition, such as dementia or a child with a disability.
The website www.actionforcarers.org.uk is constantly updated and has detailed,
useful information. ACS also provides specialist support for young carers, aged five to18, and young adults aged 18 to 24.
“We know many more people are now looking after a relative or friend,“ Victoria, added. “Our expert staff are here to help with information, advice and support, or even just a friendly voice.”
The charity provides free information, advice and support for all Surrey’s carers. You can get in touch by calling 0303 040 1234; text on 07714 075993; email CarerSupport@actionforcarers.
