Surrey Disabled People’s Partnership (SDPP) is joining the #firstfiver initiative and asking people to donate their first polymer fiver to the charity’s important work.

SDPP works to enable and empower people to achieve equality.

Its vision is to champion freedom, choice and independence for everyone. It does this by offering a number of vital services to disabled people, carers and older people living in Surrey.

new-5-noteThe new polymer £5 notes feature Sir Winston Churchill and have now entered circulation. It is claimed that this note is harder to forge, cleaner and stronger than its predecessor.

The #Firstfiver #Fivergiver campaign exploded on to social media when John Thompson took to Twitter to say that he will “donate the first new five pound note I get to charity” and posed the question: “Will you?”

Hundreds of people have joined the campaign and agreed to donate their first £5 note to charity, so the question being asked by SDPP is “Will you?”

You can do so by dropping your £5 note into one of The Surrey Hubs which are based in Woking, Godalming and Staines. You can find address or further details at www.sdpp.org.uk

Anyone who would still like to donate but has not yet found one of the new £5 notes can do so by texting SDPP02 £5 to 70070.
