The volunteers at the Great Barn are so pleased to have full-scale weddings back on the agenda, they want to celebrate by giving away the wonderful venue for one lucky couple’s special day.

Anyone can enter. You can be the couple, mother of the bride or even a friend but the venue must be used for a wedding reception in 2022.

The Great Barn at Wanborough is a “hidden gem of wedding venues”.

The Great Barn’s next open day is Sunday, August 8, between 2pm and 5pm. You can visit and imagine the possibilities for your event.

The winning couple will have the run of the barn the day before, the wedding day itself and a clear down day to take the pressure off and gently wind down after the day of their lives.

The Great Barn is perfect for adding personal touches to your special occasion, decorating and accessorising to your theme.

A Great Barn volunteer said: “One couple had a Disney’s “Up” theme whilst others have had weddings that would give the royals a run for their money. It is simply a wonderful venue for your special day.”

The Great Barn in Wanborough is a stunning venue for a wedding.

The prize also includes Wanborough Village Hall and has total value of £2,500. The competition closes on August 17, 2021 and the date for use is to be agreed by November 31, 2021.  The wedding reception itself would have to take place between April and September 2022 (with some dates excluded).

The Great Barn of Wanborough was built 630 years ago by Cistercian monks of Waverley Abbey.

The Great Barn of Wanborough, said to be the oldest and most important wooden building in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, was built over 630 years ago by Cistercian monks.

It’s most known as a tourist attraction and place of education but it is a “hidden gem as a wedding venue. It will be a hugely memorable prize for one lucky couple”.

The Great Barn volunteer added: “We really hope that this competition will resonate with the Surrey community and bring joy to the winning couple and their friends and family.”
