After performing at more than 40 UK festivals and extensively touring the UK and Ireland, folk-tastic Goodnight Lenin are coming to the Boileroom in Guildford on Tuesday, November 27, as part of their UK winter tour. And we have a pair of tickets to give away in an easy to enter competition.
The close band of five will be performing at Guildford’s alternative music venue, showing off a host of new tracks. Since forming in 2009, Goodnight Lenin have grown in confidence while developing an individual sound and talent which is reminiscent of the singer-songwriters of the 1960s and 1970s.
And now their popularity can only grow as they emerge into the spotlight of the folk world. Their influences include the Byrds, Leonard Cohen and Simon and Garfunkel, among many others, displaying how the different elements within their music have come to exist.
Following this tour, the band is excited to announce the release of a second EP, a winter themed eight-track mini album titled A Winter’s Night, available from January 7. The band’s previous single Crook in the Creek and the EP Wenceslas Square, received brilliant reviews, so this is definitely a band to watch.
Located in Stoke Fields, the Boileroom hosts a range of music events, catering to any alternative music fan. Check out http://theboileroom.net/ for details of listings, including Goodnight Lenin’s first ever Guildford performance.
Tickets for the gig are only £4 in advance, available from the Boileroom’s site. More information on the band is available at www.goodnightlenin.com.
