Witness Appeal Following Affray in Guildford

Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses following an affray in Guildford in the early hours of Sunday morning (September 8).

Officers were called to Bedford Road near to the newly reopened Y Bar, formerly known as Aux, at around 1am, having been made aware of an altercation between five people at the location.

One of the members of staff in the Y Bar told The Dragon he saw a group of young men who appeared to be involved in a confrontation run past the entrance of the bar and head further down Bedford Road.

Four men were arrested at the scene:

  • an 18-year-old man was arrested for affray, ABH, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, and possession of class B drugs. He has been released on bail;
  • an 18-year-old man was arrested for affray and ABH. He has been released on bail;
  • an 18-year-old man was arrested for affray, ABH, and possession of class A drugs. He has been released on bail;
  • a fourth 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, but later released with no further action.

A police spokesperson said: “We are now looking to speak to several key witnesses who may have helped break up the altercation and who may have footage of the incident. We are also looking to identify any other people who may have been involved in the altercation.
