Witness Appeal Following Burpham Collision

One witness report indicates that the incident took place at this bus stop layby across the roundabout from Aldi.

A pedestrian in his 70s was taken to hospital for medical treatment yesterday afternoon (March 8) after being struck by a bus.

According to a police statement, officers were called to the A3100 London Road in Burpham “near Aldi” at about 1.20pm following reports of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian at the location. A witness report indicates that the incident took place at the bus layby the other side of the Burpham Lane roundabout.

The witness told The Dragon: “Three hours later [after the incident] the bus layby on London Road, opposite the BP garage, was coned off and three police cars [were] present.” Social media reports indicate that the injuries sustained by the pedestrian were serious and that an ambulance had also attended.

A police spokesperson said: “No arrests have been made at this time, but enquiries are ongoing. We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Guildford.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident. Were you in the London Road area between about 1.15pm and 1.45pm this afternoon? Do you have any CCTV, dash cam or helmet cam footage that might have captured the collision?
