Woman Dead After Onslow Street Explosion

The body of a woman was found last night in a property in Onslow Street following an explosion and fire.

Surrey Police and Surrey Fire and Rescue were called to Bedford House shortly before 5.30pm yesterday (Monday, 19 March) following reports of an explosion in one of the flats. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

A man was also taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital with life threatening injuries. A police officer was treated for smoke inhalation. Police officers remained at the scene until late yesterday evening.

Efforts to formally identify the woman and to trace and inform her next of kin were underway.
