A keen fundraiser for the Royal Surrey County Hospital is using his wood-turning skills to produce items to sell and raise funds for the hospital.

Terry Duckmanton with a wooden spinning top he has recently made. He is selling wooden items he has made on a lathe to raise funds for the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Terry Duckmanton from Guildford says: “Having recently taken up turning wood on a lathe I can now produce wooden objects which people are happy to have in their homes. I am producing more objects than one home can reasonably accommodate and needed an outlet for my hobby.

“I saw an opportunity to make money for my favourite charity, the Royal Surrey County Hospital. I have set up a fundraising page and I am advertising wooden things on my page on the community site nextdoor for a donation to my fundraising page.

“I have been posting videos on YouTube in which I talk about and demonstrate the object(s), the latest of which is here.

“This is a charity about which I feel strongly and I want this fundraising venture to succeed.”

Terry adds that he has a lovely collection of cherry wood which looks gorgeous, but it will probably be another year or so before he can use it. Donations of seasoned wood will be extremely welcome and that logs destined for firewood make good candidates.
