The fire and passion of youth will make Guildford Symphony Orchestra’s first concert of 2018 a display of dazzling musical talent from all over the world.
The GSO Young Artists Concert takes place at St Catherine’s School, Bramley, on Sunday, February, 18 at 3.30pm. This event is always popular because the soloists are at the start of professional careers as concert stars and are hungry for success.
GSO’s music director Darrell Davison selects the soloists by very competitive audition and they are the cream of the up-coming generation of concert virtuosi.
This year’s successful candidates come from France, Korea, Latvia, Taiwan and Israel and include Solenn Grand playing the harp, Eun Cho on the cello, Renate Sokolovska playing flute and piccolo, Ring-Ru Lai on viola and Ariel Lanyi playing the piano.
The programme will include movements from Gliere’s Harp Concerto, Schumann’s Cello Concerto and Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
St Catherine’s School is in Station Road, Bramley, GU5 0DF.
Tickets are £14. Under 25’s save 50%, under 16’s are free with each paying adult. Call the GSO box office on 01483 415847 or visit the website at www.g-s-o.org.uk.
