Soup’s Up For A New Grassroots People-Funding Project

If you are struggling to get a community project going or are in need of funding for it, a new initiative starting in Guildford may be able to help.

Soup Launch Flyer 2Surrey Soup aims to be volunteer-led, involves the community, and food, creativity and a good time for all.

Its goal is to foster new opportunities and a lasting cultural exchange in the area.

Following a launch event in November, the first Surrey Soup is taking place at the Boileroom in Stoke Fields on Thursday, January 21, from 6pm to 10pm.

The concept of Soup is simple. At meetings three applicants are chosen to present to the audience for five minutes – who they are, a picture of the problem they have, and an image of the solution.

Each presenter can also answer four questions from the audience.

Each audience member then casts a vote for their favourite project.

The one with the most votes wins the cash which is raised from entry on the door on the night. £5 per person being suggested, although those attending should only give what they feel comfortable with.

And of course everyone gets a bowl of soup and bread, so everyone is a winner. All ages are welcome too.

If you would like to be considered to pitch for your chosen project, you must submit an application before noon this Friday, January 8.

Or if you wish to go along and see how it all works, then turn up on the night.
