The A281 south of Guildford, which was closed around 2pm this afternoon (January 15) because of a diesel fuel spill, has now been reopened.
The incident occurred by the Bramley Bed Centre on the southern edge of the village and a diversion through Wonersh was put in place.
No injuries were reported. Surrey Fire and Rescue and Surrey Police were in attendance.

Earlier Cllr Jane Austin (Bramley & Wonersh) received the following statement from the Waverley Environmental Team: “We understand a HGV’s fuel tank has been punctured and an oily sheen is running down the highway into the drains. Further, there is a sheen on Hascombe Stream, which we assume is associated with the fuel from the HGV.
“Whilst this is not associated with the fuel leak from Bramley Filling Station, EPS have advised they will check their booms and replace as needed. OHES and Openreach are aware of the situation as are Highways and the Environment Agency.”
