Detectives in Guildford are appealing for the public’s help after a quantity of jewellery and other expensive items were stolen during a burglary in Slyfield Green last week.

Offenders are believed to have gained entry to the property in Woodlands Close after climbing a fence some time between 11am and 5pm on Thursday 25 October.

A number of items were taken including a Breguet watch, a collection of gold ingots and a pendant on a gold chain which contained a photograph of a Chinese man in military uniform next to a young woman. Other property stolen included rings, necklaces and bracelets along with designer handbags and cameras.

DC James West, from Guildford CID, said: “This burglary took place in broad daylight and we are asking for anyone who may have been in the local area and witnessed any suspicious activity to come forward.

“Some of these items are of great sentimental value to the victim in this case. I would appeal to anyone who may know of their whereabouts or has been offered any of these items for sale to contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey Police on the non-emergency 101 number quoting reference number GD/12/9652
