In response to: Public Asked for Views on SCC’s Proposal for Reduced Speed Limits

The last response from Surrey County Council on enforcement of the proposed new speed limits says everything you need to know.

“The new speed limits are being set at a level close to what most drivers are already travelling at…”

This logic is frustrating. I would rather have potholes filled, which will make roads safer, than unnecessary road infrastructure and street furniture. Better to deliver the basics well than have showy projects which are not going to be enforced because very little has actually changed.

It’s our taxpayers’ money and these projects cost a lot when you add them up over the whole county. We can do better.
