Appeal For Witnesses Following Unprovoked Assault In North Street

police vestA man received serious facial injuries in an unprovoked assault in Guildford town centre in the early hours of Sunday, August 23.

The incident happened in North Street. A group of three men were walking from the direction of Rodboro Buildings towards the taxi rank, when they were approached by the two male suspects, who were walking with a woman, from the opposite direction.

An altercation occurred between the two groups sometime between 3am and 3.40am.As a result of the assault, a 43-year-old suffered serious injuries to his face. The second victim, a 24-year-old man suffered a cut to his eye.

The suspects made off on foot towards Bedford Road.

The suspects are described as two white men in their twenties. One was wearing a white shirt and the second a long sleeved light blue shirt.

PC Matt Lloyd investigating said: “This was a totally unprovoked attack on a couple of friends who had been enjoying a night out in the town and were making their way home. This type of violence will not be tolerated in the streets of Surrey and we will do everything possible to bring these offenders to justice.

“I urge anyone who may have seen this offence or witnessed the offenders in the lead up to the incident to contact Surrey Police as soon as possible. You may have a vital piece of information which could help officers locate these suspects.”
