Band Of The Royal Marines Return To G Live

The band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines will perform at Guildford’s G Live on Wednesday, October 18 to raise funds for seafarers in need.

Seafarers UK, the leading maritime charity, celebrates its centenary this year and returns to Guildford once again, following the huge success of its fundraising Royal Marines Band concerts over many years.

The popularity and following of the Royal Marines Band is as strong as ever.

They have entertained in Guildford for over 25 years at the Civic Hall, Guildford Cathedral and now G Live, helping to raise money for Seafarers UK and they look forward to providing audiences with a wonderful evening of music and more.

And all for a first class good cause!

Established in 1917 Seafarers UK (formerly King George’s Fund for Sailors) is the leading charity for our maritime community. This community includes the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, the Merchant Navy and the fishing fleets and provides invaluable support to this community and associated charities.

In 2016 Seafarers UK delivered £2.57 million in funding with 103 grants awarded to 69 organisations.

£42,284 was awarded in Maritime Education and Training grants, £216,751 in project fundraising grants and £171,878 in Merchant Navy Fund grants.

11 new organisations were supported, 69 beneficiary organisations aided and 186,390 people helped through Seafarer’s funding.

Although Second World War veterans are diminishing, sadly recent conflicts and the decline in the UK merchant marine have swelled the numbers of those seeking assistance and although we are an island our nation suffers from a degree of sea blindness and can be forgetful of mariners in need. Please visit www.Seafarers-uk.org for further information.

Tickets cost: £20.50, £23.50, £26.50 inclusive of £2.50 booking fee. Concessions: Save £1.

To book tickets visit the G Live website or phone 01483 369350.

Most years its the Royal Marine Band Portsmouth, this is one of the top bands that play at Trooping the Colour and the Remembrance Day service, in the Albert Hall.

It is a very good evening raising money for Seafarers UK.
