The BBC has interviewed the editor of The Guildford Dragon to find out what is going on in our local election.
Tim Donovan the political editor for the BBC’s regional news service for London, BBC London News said that he was aware that Guildford and similar towns, which don’t really consider themselves part of London, do not always get the coverage they deserve in regional news and as there are no local elections in London on Thursday he was casting his news gathering net wider.
He also recognised that the local political situation in Guildford has been made extra interesting because of disaffection with established national parties over Brexit and, locally, disappointment, even anger, over Guildford’s recently adopted Local Plan.
The interview is expected to be broadcast during the 6.30pm bulletin of BBC London News on BBC1 on Wednesday (May 1). The Guildford Dragon NEWS is a partner in the BBC’s Local Democracy Reporting Scheme and has been recently contributing Guildford news items to BBC Radio Surrey.
