Bensons for Beds which claims to be the UK’s largest bed retailer, has officially opened a new store in Guildford’s High Street.
Opening its doors on Friday, June 13, at 168 High Street, the store occupies over 6,000 square feet across two floors and employs five local staff. This marks the brand’s latest expansion outside its 170+ locations across the UK.
In 2020, Bensons for Beds went into administration, but the current owner Alteri bought it, aiming to save between 150 and 175 of the chain’s 242 stores, its Huntingdon manufacturing operation, and nearly 1,900 jobs.
Mike Gent, the Guildford store manager, said: “We are really excited about opening our store in Guildford and expanding the Bensons brand further in Surrey. Whether you’re a hot sleeper, a side sleeper, or a curled-up-like-a-kitten sleeper, we have a wide selection of beds and mattresses to suit everyone’s individual sleep needs.”
The new store will also retail products from the eveSleep brand, which Bensons acquired and integrated into its wider offering.
The Guildford opening comes amid growing investment by Bensons in its in-store experience, digital capabilities, and product development. The company has also introduced enhanced training for its staff, aiming to offer tailored sleep advice to customers.
