Aspiring young artists from a local Guildford school had their work selected for display at the National Gallery’s Take One Picture Programme.
Students from Northmead Junior School took part in the London gallery’s nationwide initiative, in which primary schools use a single painting from the gallery’s collection to inspire learning. Each class produced their own artistic interpretation.
Headteacher at Northmead Junior School, Sarah Carrington, said: “Being chosen to exhibit their work as part of Take One Picture is both exciting and empowering.
“It shows the children that their ideas and interpretations matter, and it builds confidence in their artistic abilities. It’s a powerful reminder that their voices and creativity have value beyond the classroom.”
The artwork is on display at St James’s Market Pavilion and The Roden Centre for Creative Learning at the National Gallery.
