I was midway through the article and thinking about how Park Street and that entire junction reminds me most of some of the worst and most polluting parts of London (South and North Circular) – deeply unpleasant as a pedestrian and definitely a health hazard for residents living on or near that road.

As a former London resident I can say that the clean air zone has done a lot to make London a more pleasant place to live even if its created some inconvenience for people travelling into it. The trade off there I think is a lot clearer than in Guildford, but Park Street and the area around the Bus Depot by the Friary is an exception.

I’m glad that the council if going short of a clean air zone and is, at least, looking into measures to improve the area around Park Street, which is one of the most unpleasant and unsightly entry points into Guildford and not easy to navigate as a pedestrian.
