The picture that police issued when the man who they named as Nigel went missing
Police searching for a 69-year-old who went missing in the Puttenham Common area on June 1 said today that a man’s body had been found.
A Surrey Police statement said: “A body believed to be that of a 69-year-old man missing from Puttenham was found in woodland in the early hours of this morning (June 7).
“His family are aware and are being given the appropriate support. Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
“Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death, although it is not believed to be suspicious or that there is any third-party involvement at this time.
“We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and assisted with the search.”
As we reported originally, the man, believed to be named Nigel Ward, was said to be suffering from dementia. As the search continued during the week, dozens of posts appeared on social media expressing concern for his wellbeing.
