The Guildford Institute is offering more than 75 events and activities from April to July, for people to get ready to learn, be entertained and feel inspired.
With its summer term brochure now available, it includes an exciting line-up of evening and weekend events.
Take the opportunity to see up and coming talent at its free Open Mic Night, step back in time and celebrate Guildford The Rock & Roll Years – an evening of music and anecdotes led by historian David Rose.
Meet award-winning local author Alice Fowler, and for any keen photographers, Master the Art of Creative Flower Photography is a Saturday workshop with Anna Saverimuttu.
As 2024 is an Olympic and Paralympic year, the Guildford Institute will have events inspired by the focus of Olympic achievements, ranging from celebrating monumental triumphs to the remarkable achievements of individuals.
Discover amazing accomplishments close to home with a talk on Alan Turing – Guildford’s Best Kept Secret.
And a course on Victorian Monuments by G.F. and Mary Watts. Or travel further afield with a lecture on Paris 1870 – 1900: From Siege to Olympics and visit to the River & Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames.
Its packed programme is full of variety. Activities range from a new French Conversation course, to a creative Jesmonite Casting workshop, and thought-provoking course on Poetry of the Roaring Twenties.
For those who love to learn about different topics, check out its Window on the World talks. This term, subjects include Art of the London Underground and Coco Chanel – Fashion Manifesto. These relaxed afternoon talks cost just £5 for all.

This term’s brochure cover, I Am A Mountain is by Emma Hill, an abstract artist based in Surrey.
Self-taught, Emma has dedicated 24 years to painting, discovering her unique style during her global travels as British Airways cabin crew.
The summer term is from April 8 to July 24. Advance booking for all paid Guildford Institute activities is essential.
