The Green Party has reselected Mark Bray-Parry as their prospective parliamentary candidate for Guildford.

“I am delighted to again be able to represent the Green Party in Guildford,” said Mark, former co-ordinator of the Guildford & Waverley Green Party.

“We had fantastic results in the recent local and European elections, and our councillors have been quick to make an impact, working with other councillors and activists to deliver a progressive agenda that has included declaring climate emergencies and reducing single-use plastics.

“A general election now turns the narrative towards national policies and, inevitably, Brexit. It has been more than three years since the referendum and we have seen the far-right stoke divisions in society and the Tory Party to move from the fringes into government.

“We must face this threat with politics of inclusivity and compassion. We will not allow a handful of politicians determine our future relationship with the EU but [we will] deliver a people’s vote.

“We will embark on an ambitious domestic and international agenda to protect the environment, eliminate poverty, and give our physical and mental health services the funding they deserve.

“Even amid the present gloom, a bright future is possible. It just takes a bold (and Green) vision to get there.”
