All those who responded to last week’s two mystery photos had no trouble correctly identifying them. Click here to see their comments.

Do you recognise this lodge house?

Yes, the first photo was Wellington Place on the corner of Woodbridge Road and Leas Road. I think the photo dates to the late 1960s. The second photo showed Guildford High School and is from a 1900s picture postcard.

Seen above is an attractive lodge house that still stands, but many of the trees have gone. It’s a picture postcard view from about 1910. Any ideas?

The second photo, seen below, shows a quiet stretch of the A3 in the late 1950s (I think) soon after this section had been made a dual carriageway. Can you name the exact location?

It was taken by Peter Turner who worked on the project. He has kindly allowed me to copy a number of photos he took while the road works were in progress.

If you think you know the locations leave a reply in the box below. Replies will be added to the post in about a week’s time, with the answers confirmed next time around.

This road it a bit busier today! Name the location please.

Is this the junction on the A3 with Coombs Garage on the right?
