Readers were asked “What has happened at this North Street post box? Were the boots to be posted before the sender realised they had not wrapped them or ensured they could fit through the slot or has someone taken up residence and operating a “shoes-off” policy?”
Captions were invited with a deadline of midnight Wednesday, February 1.
Because the Dragon’s generosity knows no bounds [who wrote this? Ed] it has been decided to award Dragon mugs to the three entries that were scored highest by our panel of three judges: Martin Giles, High Coakley and our cartoonist “Frog”.
The three winners are:
Harry Eve: Demon pillar box of North Street claims another victim but has no taste for boots.
George Potter: Highly desirable town centre studio property, now available for rent. Cosy interior but lots of heritage character. No utility bills or council tax. Railway station, bus station and town centre shops on your doorstep. Vibrant nightlife and located a stones throw from the weekly North Street market. Just £500 pcm.
Please note: the landlord operates a shoes-off policy.
Julian Cooper: The last of the affordable accommodation in Guildford? (Close to the refused St Edwards North Street development). If you’re coming in, you’d best take your shoes off.
Many thanks to all the entrants.
The winners will receive a Dragon NEWS mug (see below).
