Guildford Borough Council have published changes to their Christmas waste collection service.
To ensure minimum disruption to service, residents are being advised to check the changes to their collection day. Changes begin on December 25 (Christmas Day) and last until January 4.
Lead councillor for Environmental Services, George Potter said: “This year we’ll be sharing changes to our collection service over the Christmas period on our social media channels, writing to parish councils, resident associations as well as including information in our resident digital newsletter.
“A limited amount of paper copies will be available for collection from our offices in Millmead. In addition, residents can also check their Christmas waste collection day on our website and download the schedule if needed.
“I would also like to remind residents to check what they can put in their recycling especially at this time of year. For example, you can only put wrapping paper and Christmas cards into your recycling bin if they are paper or card.
“Glitter covered and non-paper gift wraps that are made from foil-based paper, cannot be recycled. That type of paper should be put in your general, black rubbish bin. If residents are unsure about what they can recycle, I would encourage them to check on our website.”
