The halow project, that supports people aged 16-plus with learning disabilities and autism, has been awarded Charity of the Year in The Family Network Recognition National Business Awards.
Award winners were announced on March 11 at Reigate Manor Hotel. The Family Network also raised funds for Sofia – Pregnancy Loss Support, in the run up to the event and held a raffle on the night.
Rachelle Barnett, halow’s head of fundraising and communications, said: “We are proud to be recognised by The Family Network members as a community-based charity doing exceptional work in our field.
“Both our organisations focus on building a supportive community that helps people to develop and thrive, so there is great synergy between us.
“At halow, we are delighted to have the opportunity to build relationships with The Family Network members; we share their ‘can do’ spirit in the goals and ambitions we help adults with learning disabilities and autism to achieve.’ ”
halow works with more than 200 people each year with learning disabilities and autism on their journey to independence.
It supports them to build relationships and socialise, to feel part of their community, and to gain skills to find suitable employment.
It assists them with living independently and provides one-to-one support workers.
