Child Flown To Hospital After Hit and Run in Ash

A child has been taken to hospital following a collision with a car outside a school in Ash this afternoon (13 Sep).

The 11-year-old was leaving school at around 3.05pm when he was in collision with a silver Mercedes Benz E250 on Manor Road. The car was travelling from the Greyhound roundabout in the direction of Tongham when the incident happened. The road was closed at its junction with Kings Avenue and re-opened at 5.40pm.

Two air ambulances attended but the victim was taken by road to St George’s Hospital in Tooting.

The car, which did not stop at the scene of the collision, was later recovered.

A 30-year-old man is currently in custody.

Police officers are appealing for witnesses to contact Surrey Police with any information relating to the collision and the manner in which the Mercedes was being driven. Anyone with details is asked to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference P12269477 and ask to speak with PC Jonathan Belt.
