July 26 – North Street was reopened to traffic today at 12 noon, according to market traders who earlier had had to position their stalls above Market Street to be above the closed section. According to one trader, the re-opening had to wait until concrete used in the re-surfacing had set.

Road closed sign outside the Black Sheep coffee shop, looking up North Street (although this was no entry to vehicles anyway).
July 25 – SCC Cllr Fiona Davidson (R4GV, Guildford South East) has told The Guildford Dragon NEWS that North Street is likely to re-open to traffic by 10am tomorrow morning (Saturday 26th).
Today it could be seen that the road where a void was discovered has been filled but still requires resurfacing with Tarmac.
July 24 – Part of North Street has been closed to traffic to allow an investigation into an area of subsidence by the entrance to Guildford Bus Station by the Black Sheep coffee shop. Egress for traffic coming down North Street, wishing to pass through the bus station, is not possible and diversions are in place.
A Surrey County Council spokesperson said later: “The initial investigation has been done this morning and a gang will be working on that this evening, and depending on progress made, they’re hoping to reopen the road tomorrow.”
A report on the Causeway site indicates that a void has been discovered below the carriageway and that a licence to keep the road closed, only if necessary, for a week, until July 30, has been obtained.
A SCC spokesperson added: “We don’t have a concrete date for reopening, but the latest update we have from Highways colleagues was that the team are working on it, however it won’t be done by the morning, unfortunately.”

The signage outside Black Sheep coffee shop was a bit pointless as you can’t drive up there anyway. They would have been better warning people ahead of Haydon Place as last night I witnessed lots of people having to do 3-point turns.
