Clarks shoe shop in the High Street (adjacent to Tunsgate Quarter) has been closed for about a week. A source told The Dragon it was due to flooding in the basement.

Clarks shoe shop in the High Street is closed due to a flood reported to be in the basement.

A note in the shop window stated: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be closed until further notice. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. Thank you!”

Statement in the Clarks shoe shop window (Friday, January 27).

The source said the water was still coming into the affected area and was coming from the Tunsgate Quarter.

We have also been told that the store is unlikely to open next week.

The Guildford store was not showing up on the Clarks website today (Sunday, January 29) with the location of the nearest Clarks shop to Guildford being shown as in Woking.

We have asked Clarks and the Tunsgate Quarter for a comment.
