Josh Waller bagged the winner with his second of the night about halfway through the third period as the Flames collected a 4-3 league win over the visiting Glasgow Clan.

Josh Tarzwell put the away team in front about four minutes in. It remained the only goal of the contest until past the midway point.

On a powerplay in the 34th minute Waller started the count.  Flames took their first advantage off the stick of Matt Alvaro at 36:32. Just 40 seconds later, Tarzwell’s second had it level again, but a late Jordan Power answer sent the home team to break up by a single.

A little under 5 minutes into the third, Clan knotted the score once again thanks to Julius Reini. As game moved close towards the final half of the third, Waller’s second of the contest had Flames nursing a lead down the stretch.

With more than two minutes left, Clan opted for an extra skater and an empty net to make their best attempt to tie it and force overtime, but despite some close calls, the efforts were fruitless and Flames held on for the regulation league points.

Brad Arvanitis turned away 25 of 28 shots for the win while Clan’s Rasmus Tirronen was 31 for 35.

“It was huge two points in the end,” said trainer Paul Dixon. “Glasgow are a good team and it could have gone either way.”

“This league is so competitive that any night either team can win and we are glad we got the points against a very good team and were impressive in their efforts tonight.”

“We look forward to staying home for tomorrow again getting back into Cup action against Nottingham Panthers.”
