Correction: Warrant Was Issued for Arrest of HRA Investigation Suspect

Published on: 22 Sep, 2024
Updated on: 22 Sep, 2024

In the article: £18.5m HRA Overspend Investigations Plod On One Year After Suspensions and Sackings, it was reported that an arrest was made of “one of the dismissed contractors who declined to go to a police station to be interviewed voluntarily”.

We have now been informed that this is incorrect and that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of the former contractor. The arrest was made on March 21.

We have also seen correspondence between the contractor and Surrey Police showing that person arrested had written, in December 2023, that he was fully available and willing to attend any police station within 24 hours.

The case was subsequently transferred to the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

We apologise for the error. The article has been corrected.
