Your chance to see parts of the hospital not normally on view such as an operating theatre with a demonstration of keyhole surgery.
Have you ever wanted a look behind the scenes at our local hospital? If so, now is your chance.
The Royal Surrey County Hospital is set to throw open its doors to the public as it stages its second Community Open Day on Saturday, June 28 from 11am-3pm.
The free event will enable the public to take a tour of an operating theatre to see one of the Hospital Trust’s state-of-the-art robots, watch demonstrations of X-rays and ultrasound in the radiology department and learn life-saving CPR skills.
There will also be career sessions running throughout the day where prospective healthcare workers can hear directly from the specialists on how to take the first steps into a range of professions including nursing, midwifery, medicine and speech and language therapy, among others.
Louise Stead, group chief executive of Royal Surrey, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts, said: “This is a wonderful chance to see the hospital like you’ve never seen it before, to get a glimpse behind the scenes and chat to our brilliant teams.
“It’s a celebration of what we offer our community and an opportunity for you to experience the work of a busy NHS hospital from a very unique perspective.
“We’re proud to showcase the incredible talent and expertise within our teams, demonstrate our cutting-edge technology, and share our exciting vision for the future of our services. It really is a day not to be missed.”
The event is being supported by Royal Surrey Charity which this year is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
A hospital spokesperson said: “It promises to be fun-filled activity packed day for all the family. Attendees will also be able to enjoy live music, food and lots more to entertain all ages, including free activities such as face painting, bubble shows and prizes to be won in the Royal Surrey Charity Kids’ Zone.”
Parking will be free all day. To find out more please click here.
