Parking arrangements for the Guildford Lions Jubilee Procession to The Mount have been clarified in responses to concerned residents of Green Lane.

A council officer wrote: “At the turning circle at the top of The Mount just before the bridleway commences we will be erecting a ‘no parking beyond this point’ sign.  In addition to this, along the verges on the bridleway we will also be placing a number of yellow no parking cones.

“We will also have a marshal at the turning circle/ start of the bridleway point, to help with cars which drive up to The Mount, as well as to receive the procession as it makes its way up to The Mount. The no car parking signs will be in place on Monday afternoon.

“Throughout the planning of this event we have been working with the council Parks and Countryside team, and we appreciate that considerable work has been undertaken by The Mount residents and volunteers to conserve the verges.

“We have been in contact with the police throughout the planning of this event and they are working with us on the evening.”

There will also be a ranger in attendance to ensure that the procession and spectators are directed away from areas where skylarks have been observed nesting.

The nearest car park to the route is believed to be the Farnham Road car park.
